!WARNING!: any wintards comments are left on this blog will be completely deleted.

now for those who are wondering about osx86 are prolly thinking is it right for me is my hardware supported and what effects does this have on my computer?

if you love not being able to use a command line and are not used to installing os’s this tutorial is not for you

if you find this is not enough for you to switch this is not for you

now for those who arent affraid of a challenge lets move on i gave you a wiki link inside the “this” link and there are several forums you can visit but i really recommend InsanelyMac for the support is marvelous and the community completely exceptional

now ways of installing osx86?

you need

a blank dvd

your BIOS correctly configured to read the dvd drive first all you have to do is press del and hold it down as as you start up the computer before its in the operating system and youll get a little screen like this

now put the dvd drive first and save

the 3rd thing youll need to do will be note every bit of hardware you have

and research a distro that has the drivers you want in it (now the following screenshots are from a distribution of osx86 called iDeneb)

things you need to know before burning your osx86 dist.

there are some major distributions i recommend and you can get them from a torrent site such as PirateBay or mininova.com

so now you have your iDeneb(torrent) and your ready to go all you have to do now is burn your iso to a disc with a iso burner with the following iso burners ActiveISO(Windows) Brazero(Linux) ImageBurner(Mac) (these are all free opensource apps)

after burning it boot it up and you should get to the the first screen accept the licence and all the then youll get the “install to a destination” screen you wont see anything there there is a thing up the top called a globalmenu and in the menu there should be a utility column there should be a disk utility in that utility you have to erase the partition you want to install osx on and make it a hfs+ journaled partition (make sure you have your partitions organised and your boot loader youll see in this guide) after doing that close the window and click the destination

after that you get a prompt saying do you want to install osx you have to click customize and go through each category and tick the drivers which are appropriate for your x86 machine and install

common questions after install?

I have an ATI graphics card and its not listed

this post on insanely mac will help alot

My sound doest work

now this project is very well done and is great for everyone with intel souncards its called VoodooHDA

and for further questions and assistance i suggest you goto insanelymac

anyway enjoy your osx86 journey

If you have this partition taking up the whole Hard Drive, Then right click>Resize/Move Resize it enough for 2 partition’s.

Now create 2 Partition’s.

The first NTFS you will install Windows XP on this Partition.

The second partition will be FAT32. You will install OSX on this partition. as you cant make HFS by default.

Click Apply after its finished your done. Log out of the disk.

Step 2.

Take your Window’s XP OEM Disk.

Boot into it.

Quote:

The next step is abit more complex but not to hard.

Example of grub list located in /boot/grub/menu.lst

chainloader +1
makeactive

title MacOSX
root (hd0,1)
chainloader –force +1

Your wondering why am i showing this well if you notice there is after rootnoverify(recommended for Windows XP bootloader issue’s) or root there is a (hd0,#) when your in gparted you will notice that there is /dev/sda1/ now Ubuntu is located on this one but you will notice (hd0,0)

so if sda1 it = (hd0,0) after root

Next you will have to edit the list to boot into Windows XP and finish the installation remember the method with sda1 = hd0,0

Code:

chainloader +1
makeactive

Paste that into the end of the file edit it to fit with the gparted list remember NTFS.(Save the file and reboot)

Step 5.

Boot into Windows XP on the installation disk.

Quote:

Once its done exit the utility.

Now install the operating system. Your done! .

Note: You will get an error at reboot dont panic where going to sort it out. by reinstalling grub and activating partition with OSX.

Step 8.

Boot into the Ubuntu installation disk. Under the try before install option.

Now put in the following commands.

sudo grub (wait for it to probe your BIOS)

Then find /boot/grub/stage1 press enter if it comes up with [hd0,0] then your set.

Next you will have to edit the list to boot into OSX but thats not the end of it.

Remember when your putting OSX in the menu.lst file.

To put it in like this.

Code:

title MacOSX
root (hd0,1)(Remember the sda1 = hd0,0 but apply to the OSX partition, cut this text out.)
chainloader --force +1
